Actually it is going to be the biggest stollen worldwide, which is baked in one bakery. „The stollen from Dresden ist bigger though, but 75 bakeriers are involved there“, Höweling explains. Nevertheless the bakermeister is not interested in a certificate: „The costs for it shall prove advantageous to the campeign.“ The gains are provided to the construction-society for the restoration of the Hildesheim cathedral. He is delighted by the workings and wants to do his contribution, Höweling emphasises.
Therefore he invests much time and money: The baker and his assistants are busy for about six weeks to bake 2000 small stollens. From this single items with a weight of 500 gramme the big christmasstollen is compounded. „The work on the stollen is beside the ordinary work“, Höweling says. Also the materials are sponsored by the contractor, the selling price entirely is intended for the cathedral-restoration.
The piece parts of the cathedral-stollen are being sold for seven euros – but only on one day. The selling takes place on Saturday, December 4th in the Hildesheim city centre. „It's a single opportunity“, Dr. Ralf Tappe says. About the proceeds of the campaign the executive secretary is delighted of course, still he takes another advantage: „By campaigns like this the awareness for Hildesheim's Saint Mary's cathedral is raised.“ Also the construction-society gladly supports other creative ideas, Tappe says.
The selling in the Hildesheim city centre on Saturday, December 4th, starts at 1 pm. It is sold, as long as the supply reaches. One portion of 500 gramme costs 7 euros.
