Hildesheim (bph) On the second adventweekend the selling of the Hildesheim cathedralstollen made by baker Godehard Höweling started. At that time there was a wain with 2.000 sweet pieces in the Hildesheim pedestrian zone, about half of it was sold to enthusiatic buyers for seven euros. The baker handed over a cheque about 8.420 euros for the cathedral-construction-society on Monday midday.

In total there were stired together 1,07 millions raisins, 250 kilogrammes butter and 24 kilogrammes spices in „Godi's Backstube“ into a delicious stollen from a world champion extent. The proud numbers resulted in a pleasant amount at the selling, which could be handed over now by Höweling as cheque to the cathedral-construction-society. Also the costs for the ingredients and his hours of work during the six weeks of the preparation the Hildesheim bakermeister „donates“ to the cathedral-restoration.

„I'm proud of helping to maintain the World Cultural Heritage“, Höweling glad said about the successful campaign. It was a stiff piece of work and he underestimated the logistic effort. But the great demand – there were numerous mail-orders from the european foreign countries – had justified the effort. When it was clear, that not all remaining cathedralstollen could be sold in the bakery until christmas, he shorthand spent them as festal surprise for those who need it: the social lunch „Guter Hirt“ and to the „Hildesheim table“.

For the cathedral-construction-society the selling was a multiple success, as the managing director Dr. Ralf Tappe emphasised. „Besides to the achieved gains we won over new members and some year-sponsorships for the timeline in the cloister“. The society, as chairman Dr. Konrad Deufel says, „has bridged over by this campaign to the Hildesheim craftsmen“, a way, which should be entered more common in the future.
